TEAM 151x – Ride-On TPS Make Baja 1000 History!

Riding a
Honda XR250R treated with the Ride-On Tire Protection System (TPS)
motorcycle tire sealant, Team 151x consisting of Charles Schnell, Mike
Hefner, Tony Rutter, Mike Welsby, Chris Steward and Nancy Emde became the
first “Coed” team to win a motorcycle class in the history of the Baja
1000. Finishing with an official time of 27:27:37, the team placed first
in Class 20, the Lightweight Pro Motorcycle Division, defeating formidable
competitors such as the Husquavarna factory backed race effort. Hailing
from a famous southern California motorcycling family, it was fitting for
Emde to ride the finish section of the race. Her father Floyd won the 1949
Daytona 200 and later went on to become enshrined in the Motorcycle Hall of
Fame, and her brother Don won the Daytona 200 in 1972 making them the only
father-son winners in the history of Daytona. Before winning in Baja, Emde
was a women’s division TT and steeplechase series champion at the now
defunct South Bay Park Speedway.
The Baja 1000 is the
granddaddy of all desert races and marks the season finale of the SCORE
Desert Series. In what can only be described as a brutal test of endurance
running the length of the Baja California peninsula, racers consider just
finishing the course a win. This 39th annual running was no
exception, running from Ensenada, BCS, 1047 miles south to the capitol of
the Baja frontier La Paz, only 234 of the 431 entrants completed the
course. The
no-holds-barred competition continues day and night through rough terrain.
We’re not talking about your standard flat tire!
The team waded
through rivers, jumped dirt ramps and even dodged booby traps set by local
residents. The 1,047-mile course put the teams’ skills to the test as they
trekked though Baja’s demanding desert that never ceased to provide
obstacles –Along the way, Schnell and his crew had to deal with the effects
of Hurricane Paul that flooded some of the 29 river crossings along the
track.
When not
racing, Emde and Steward run Trailboss Tours, an internationally renowned
adventure motorcycling tour company. See
www.trailbosstours.com
for more information. Their experience with Ride-On TPS continues to be a
positive one. Running 15 bikes, and multiple support vehicles up and down
the Baja peninsula nearly every week to the tune of more than 20,000 OFFROAD
miles annually, they report their flat tire incidence has DECREASED by
nearly 90%. The simple addition of Ride-On TPS to their already superb
operation has benefited them tremendously. The below photos are the latest
sent in showing what Ride-On has done for them:

To quote:
“not a drop of air lost”. These pictures were taken while performing
routine Post-Tour maintenance on the fleet bikes in preparation for the next
outing. The bike completed the tour with no sign of tire failure as this
wasn’t discovered until after the ride had been completed.

St John Ambulance Singapore selected
Ride-on TPS for its fleet of ambulances.
Active Products is pleased that St John Ambulance Singapore has selected
Ride-on TPS to protect the tyres for its fleet of ambulances and passenger
vans.
St John
Ambulance has decided to use Ride-on TPS after a series of successful
performance and endurance tests including instant preventive sealing of
multiple punctures, repair sealing of old puncture leaks and ride handling
comfort.
Ambulance vehicles need to be operational at all times possible, be it
emergency or non-emergency. Flat tyre due to punctures is a real risk.
Patient’s medical condition can get worst during the wait for flat tyre
replacement or for a replacement vehicle. Immobilization and transfer along
a busy road can be very dangerous. Referring to March 06's incident of
car park barrier (TodayOnline
Friday March 17, 2006), an unforeseen delay even for ten to fifteen minutes can
mean life or death.
Ambulance
operators such as Red Cross and St John are already using Ride-on TPS to
protect their vehicles tyres to reduce the risk of delay. At the same time,
Ride-on TPS helps to extend the tyre lifes of their vehicles.

Inovex, the manufacturer of Ride-on TPS, is pleased and honored to have been
selected as a supplier to the United Nations High Commission on Refugees (UNHCR)
in Kabul, Afghanistan.
UNHCR plans to use Ride-On tire sealants in its four-wheel-drives and other
support vehicles.
"The current climate in this part of the world demands that aid
organizations operating there take steps to reduce incidences of vehicle
breakdowns," states Harry Farkhan, Inovex's Head of Operations. "We're
obviously pleased that the UNHCR considers Ride-On tire sealants as a key
part of this necessity."
